School Committee

Committee Goals 2024 – 2025

The Billerica School Committee will support the District’s efforts to ensure students  achieve at their highest academic level and equitably improve student social-emotional wellbeing. 

  • Support the highest level of academic growth by setting expectations with the District that achievement will be demonstrated, assessed and analyzed to determine the effects of past and present implementation of curricula. 
  • Improve social-emotional wellbeing of students by reviewing the District’s school climate data and advocating for the strengthening of positive school climate efforts and initiatives that promote belonging. 
  • The School Committee will work to ensure necessary funding is appropriated for implementing additional supports when deemed necessary. 

The Billerica School Committee will support a long-term plan and financial budget in order to support the district’s strategic plan and other strategic initiatives. 

  • The School Committee will appoint members to the Finance subcommittee at the annual reorganization meeting and they will meet consistently throughout the year. 
  • The Finance subcommittee will develop a budget process and timeline with the Superintendent and present it to the School Committee for discussion. 
  • The School Committee will work with the Central Office to develop an annual budget that supports the District’s strategic plan. 

The Billerica School Committee will communicate openly, provide opportunities for feedback, and foster active partnerships with students, parents, and organizations. 

  • The School Committee will work to improve processes for receiving input and feedback from the community and will advocate for Billerica students. 
  • The School Committee will support the development of a clear and consistent process for the communication of school information. 

The Billerica School Committee will work to ensure all School Committee District policies are up to date and aligned with MASC and Massachusetts General Law. 

  • The School Committee will appoint members to the Policy subcommittee at the annual reorganization meeting and they will meet consistently throughout the year. 
  • The Policy subcommittee will revise at least 10% of the policies each year.
