Billerica Public Schools proudly offer comprehensive fine arts programming for all students — kindergarten through senior year — at each of our schools. We offer a wide range of programs during the regular school day, as well as numerous after-school programs.

Elementary school students receive visual art and general music on a regular schedule. In fourth grade, students may elect to participate in band or string orchestra lessons once per week. Our middle and high schools offer a broad spectrum of visual and performing arts classes. Visual arts courses include painting, drawing, illustration, computer graphics, and 3-D sculpture. Performing arts classes include concert and marching bands, chamber singers, acapella and concert choir, string orchestra, piano, music theory, theatre tech, and acting.

The Billerica School District’s focus on support for student success is augmented by district-level enrichment opportunities such as art shows, concerts, exhibitions, recitals, district honor bands, honor orchestras and honor choirs and Massachusetts theater festivals. We support vigorous relationships with various state and national organizations including National Association for Music Education, Massachusetts Music Educators Association, and Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild.

The Billerica Public School District is committed to the education of the whole child and as a component of that education believes that:

BMHS Alumni Band Information - Friday October 20th, 2023

Hello BMHS Band Alumni.

I am happy to announce that on Friday, October 20, 2023 we will be hosting our second Band Alumni Night at BMHS. At this game against North Andover, we will be having interested Band Alumni perform stand music along with the present 23-24 Band members. Report time for this game is 6:15 PM in the BMHS Band Room.

There are 4 Alumni music rehearsals scheduled to help you prepare for game night.

Alumni Band Rehearsals:

·   Wednesday September 27, 2023 from 7:00-8:30 PM BMHS Band Room

·   Thursday October 5, 2023 from 7:00-8:30 PM BMHS Band Room

·   Wednesday October 11, 2023 from 7:00-8:30 PM BMHS Band Room

·   Wednesday October 18, 2023 from 7:00-8:30 PM BMHS Band Room

It is highly recommended (not required) that you attend at least 1 evening rehearsal to become familiar with our present stand tunes and game procedures. Paper copies of the music will also be passed out at these rehearsals.

Hopefully many of you might still have your instruments, however, we will have a limited number of instruments that you can borrow on a first come first serve basis. If I can provide you with an instrument, it may be picked up at the first scheduled Alumni rehearsal. If you borrow an instrument you may need your own mouthpiece as there are only a few to be borrowed. Do not forget that you should have a flip folder (or some device to hold your music) and lyre for your instrument as we do not have the Color Guard holding music any longer!!!

For those of you who participated last year, we are still performing all of the selections we played last year but we have added 1 or more pieces (Smooth???? Sweet Caroline????). Please see the link below to access your music for the all songs.

In order to prepare for your participation, I will need to know in advance, if you will be attending the game and what instrument you will be playing, if you have your own instrument or do you hope to borrow one, and if you think you will be attending any of the evening rehearsals. A link is provided below to access the sign-up form.

Once you sign up and provide the needed information, I will email you your music (if needed or you can access it on like) and confirmation that I have an instrument for you if needed.

All performing Alumni will enter the stadium with the Band. Unfortunately, any Alumni not performing will need to purchase a ticket at the gate and sit with the spectators in the bleachers. Only Band performers will be seated in chairs on the track. Please be aware that our bleachers and parking on campus fill up very quickly during home games!
